All the songs are not about her, just that one, but it’s kinda the focal point of the record I guess. The thing I found to be really funny/interesting is the old footage of Patty’s fiance, Steve Weed pleading on the news for Patty’s return. They were engaged to be married, she gets kidnapped and he gets assaulted in the melee and she starts showing up on the news with a fucking machine gun and has totally gone to the ‘other side!’! I can’t imagine what that must have been like. There’s a real longing in his voice and I wonder if that comes from the fact that his soon to be wife was kidnapped and his free ride was coming to a quick end, or if it was true love. Weed was 26 and Patty was 19 when she got kidnapped…Who knows, but man, people always make jokes about marrying into money and stuff. The SLA fucked that up for Steve big time. Granted, I am sure the Weeds were pretty fucking well off too, but something about that just cracked me up. He sells real estate now in the bay area. The chorus to Tania is the names those girls assumed after joining up with the SLA, Zola, Yolanda, Teka, Tania. I think Patty is a born again Christian now or something. Jesus heals all wounds, right? That and a pardon from fucking Jimmy Carter!”
